Favorite Annuals – Flowers

These tried and true favorites are always on a Master Gardener’s shopping list:

Spring to Summer – Delphinium, Penta, Portulaca, Pursulane, Cosmos, ‘Wave’ Petunias and Plumbago.

Summer – Esparanza, Zinnias, and Marigolds.

Winter – Snapdragons, Pansies and Violas.

: Delphiniums – Also called Larkspur. Light to full sun. Sow seed in the fall.

: Pentas – Light shade to full sun. A favorite of butterflies.

: Portulaca – Groundcover with spiky foliage. Full sun. Similar to Pursulane.

: Purslane – Many colors. Tear drop shaped leaves. Full sun.

: Cosmos – Full Sun. Easy to plant from seed.

: ‘Wave’ Petunias – Many colors available. Full sun.

: Plumbago – Full Sun.

: Esparanza – Full Sun.

: Zinnias – Many colors and many varieties. Easy to start from seed. Full sun.

: Marigolds – Full Sun. Easy to start from seed.
